Pac-12 head coach tests positive for COVID-19

The Pac-12’s days of despair are not going anywhere, as scheduled games continue to fall like dominoes for the last league to return to play, making it increasingly unlikely the conference will have the opportunity to compete for a spot in the College Football Playoff.
Now Arizona State’s head coach, Herm Edwards, has tested positive for Covid-19 along with multiple members of his coaching staff and rostered players. Their game against Cal Berkeley, a team that was forced to cancel its opener last week against Washington after a single asymptomatic positive test, was called off as well.
Utah’s opener at the University of Arizona was also canceled last week.

Edwards put out a statement soon after the announcement of his positive test:

According to other reports, the Pac-12 may be in the process of swapping around opponents at the very last minute in a desperate effort to save some of this weekend’s games for its member schools, but more will not be known until later. Stay tuned for more details.
