Pac-12 head coach’s job in ‘serious jeopardy’ after humiliating loss

The Pac-12 hasn’t created a lot of headlines this season with its shortened schedule and myriad of cancellations.
One thing that has certainly come out of this season for the conference is the rotten play of Arizona. Coming off of a seven-game losing streak a season ago, the Wildcats have only made it worse with an 0-5 start in 2020. That included Friday’s ridiculously lopsided loss to in-state rival Arizona State.
If you missed Friday’s game, it’s safe to say you won’t be seeing a replay of the game on ESPN Classic. The Sun Devils rolled, and I mean rolled, over Arizona in a 70-7 win. That’s not a typo. It was that bad. With things going so south in Tucson, the talk of head coach Kevin Sumlin’s departure is getting quite loud.

It’s amazing how far Sumlin’s stock has fallen. When he took the Texas A&M job, he was soaring, especially when he and Johnny Manziel went in and defeated Alabama in Tuscaloosa in 2012. But that momentum quickly halted and Sumlin found himself out of College Station soon after.
Though he landed at Arizona, a Power-5 program that has never quite gotten itself into elite status, it’s been tough for Sumlin to accomplish hardly anything. He may not get the chance to change that if the school decides to relieve Sumlin of his duties.
