Pac-12 issues apology to Stanford after testing issues impacted season opener

Stanford was shorthanded for its season-opening 35-14 loss at Oregon because of COVID-19 protocol. However, it has since been revealed that a testing error resulted in Stanford players being unavilable that shouldn’t have been sidelined.
The Pac-12 released a statement on Friday morning apologizing for the mistake. ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg also reports that Stanford starting quarterback Davis Mills was one of the players out vs. Oregon.

“We apologize to the Stanford football team and its supporters, and especially to the student-athletes who were held out of the game as a result of the testing protocol errors,” The statement read.
Would Mills and the other players have made a difference in the game against Oregon? That is hard to tell with the Cardinal dropping the opener by a final score of 35-14. Either way, the players lost a game out of an already short season.
Stanford hosts Colorado (1-0) this Saturday in its home opener (2:3o p.m. CST/ESPN).
