Bobby April, a former Wisconsin linebacker coach, is expected to be the new defensive coordinator for Stanford. April was interviewed for Michigan’s defensive coordinator position during the off season and end up as one of the potential finalists.

April has developed NFL level players like Andrew Van Ginkel who was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in 2019 and Zack Baun who was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in 2020. For Wisconsin last season, Nick Herbig led the B1G in tackles for loss and sacks.

April is a seasoned coach who, prior to being with the Badgers, was with the University of Washington. He coached professionally with the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Jets and Buffalo Bills.

Recently hired head coach Troy Taylor will look to continue to add to Stanford’s staff. Taylor is from Sacramento State, where he went 30-8 with 3 Big Sky Championships.
