Michigan State and Ohio State might have looked like the teams that took a step back, but both squads kept their New Year’s Six spots in Jerry Palm’s latest bowl projections.
It was actually another B1G team that suffered a steep fall. Wisconsin, which Palm had tabbed in the Peach Bowl last week and the Rose Bowl a week before, was dropped from the New Year’s Day bowls altogether.
Northwestern and Iowa, on the other hand, continued their respective rises after picking up impressive wins in their B1G openers. The Wildcats were in Palm’s Foster Farms Bowl as recently as two weeks ago but were vaulted into a New Year’s Day game.
In all, 10 B1G teams were selected by Palm to go bowling:
Orange Bowl: Ohio State vs. Clemson
Rose Bowl: Michigan State vs. USC
Citrus Bowl: Michigan vs. Ole Miss
Outback Bowl: Northwestern vs. Texas A&M
Holiday Bowl: Iowa vs. UCLA
Music City Bowl: Wisconsin vs. Missouri
Armed Forces Bowl: Minnesota vs. Air Force
Quick Lane Bowl: Indiana vs. Pittsburgh
Foster Farms Bowl: Penn State vs. Utah
Pinstripe Bowl: Nebraska vs. Duke
