Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald was in a good — and understanding — mood after the Wildcats defeated Illinois 28-10 on Saturday afternoon.

Fitzgerald’s squad will now turn its attention to Ohio State for the Big Ten Championship Game next weekend. Fitzgerald was asked about the matchup after the win over the Illini, and he had joke prepared.

The line isn’t going to be quite that high, but the Wildcats are heavy underdogs. BetOnline.Ag released an early line for the game on Thursday, and the Buckeyes are 20-point favorites.

It’s possible that line will come down a couple points based on Northwestern playing well vs. Illinois. Last week, the Wildcats fell victim to Michigan State, ruining their undefeated season.

Northwestern running backs Evan Hull and Cam Porter were the stars for Fitzgerald’s offense. Both backs surpassed 140 yards on the ground and both found the end zone. Hull averaged 11.5 yards per carry and Porter scored twice.

Quarterback Peyton Ramsey wasn’t asked to do much, throwing the ball just 12 times. He completed seven of those passes for 82 yards and a touchdown.

Ohio State will be coming off an idle weekend since Michigan had to cancel due to a COVID-19 outbreak.

Northwestern and Ohio State played in this game two years ago, and the Buckeyes won that battle 45-24.
