Pat Fitzgerald is quickly becoming one of the most quotable coaches in the B1G. The Northwestern leader didn’t disappoint following his team’s 31-17 win over No. 20 Wisconsin, either.

Following the victory, Fitzgerald met up with FOX Sports and The Athletic reporter Bruce Feldman to talk about being the top dog atop the B1G West. And while Fitzgerald isn’t worried about the division just yet, he plans on celebrating a huge win over the Badgers.

“I’m gonna go have some good, clean American fun tonight, I’m not gonna worry about that,” Fitzgerald said when asked how his team can clinch the West. “We’ve got a huge challenge a week from now [against Notre Dame], stepping out of conference against an absolutely amazing football team. Gonna enjoy tonight.”

At 5-1 in the B1G, Northwestern owns a full game advantage over every other team in the division. Next week, the Wildcats takes on No. 3 Notre Dame before rounding out the conference schedule against No. 18 Iowa, Minnesota and Illinois.

Fitzgerald may not want to worry about the division right now, but the Cats are on the cusp of doing something really special. Whether he wants to talk about it or not, it’s a real conversation that will fill a lot of press conferences over the final month of the season.
