Pat Fitzgerald previews B1G Championship Game matchup with Ohio State

Northwestern has put together a dramatic and incredible season, but the Wildcats will have their hands full against Ohio State.
After a 3-9 season in 2019, few picked Northwestern to have a strong year in 2020. But a veteran defense and the arrival of transfer QB Peyton Ramsey made all the difference.
If not for an unexpected loss to Michigan State, Pat Fitzgerald’s squad would potentially be playing for a trip to the College Football Playoff. Even with that loss, Northwestern is still 6-1 and playing for a berth to the Rose Bowl.
On Sunday evening, Fitzgerald met with the media to discuss the B1G Championship Game set for next Saturday. (Also be sure to check out what Ohio State head coach Ryan Day had to say.)
Here are the highlights from Fitz:
Pat Fitzgerald on Northwestern's 2019 game against Ohio State, which the Buckeyes won 52-3: “They probably would have had a better game against their twos than the way we played.”

Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald brings up last year's Playoff game vs. Clemson when talking about Ohio State: "I still think they should've won that game. I thought that was a pretty tough call, but I'm a little bit of a Big Ten homer." Says he threw stuff at his TV.

Pat Fitzgerald said he thinks Ryan Day and Ohio State “deserve a lot of the credit” for the Big Ten having a season this fall.

Asked about what Northwestern will do to try to slow down Ohio State's offensive weapons, Pat Fitzgerald replied, “I'll be sitting around all week trying to figure that out.”
