Pat Fitzgerald reveals when he found out Northwestern won the B1G West

Saturday turned into quite an eventful day for Northwestern.
The Wildcats took on Iowa with a chance to keep a strong run of play rolling. Pat Fitzgerald’s squad entered the weekend leading the B1G West, but Northwestern was not expected to clinch a B1G Championship Game appearance quite yet.
Well, thanks to losses by Wisconsin and Purdue and Northwestern’s 14-10 win over Iowa, the Wildcats secured the first B1G West title in school history. The team will be heading to Indianapolis for the B1G Championship Game in a season that has experienced a dramatic turnaround.
After the win, Fitzgerald hurriedly gathered his team around to give them the good news. The Wildcats were able to celebrate immediately after the win, but it turns out Fitzgerald did not know they had won the West until mere moments before.
