Pitt’s Pat Narduzzi is the latest college football coach to speak out against NIL-related transfer tampering.
During a recent interview, Narduzzi shared that he heard 2 schools had offered North Carolina QB Drake Maye $5 million to transfer. Narduzzi called the NIL offers to transfer a “sad, sad deal.”
Pitt Head Coach Pat Narduzzi says on @937theFan that he’s heard 2 schools offered UNC QB Drake Maye $5 million to transfer. Wont’s say who. But he knows who. Wow. Says it’s gotten out of control and it’s only going to get worse. Quote: “It’s a sad, sad deal.”

Earlier this month, Maye publicly decided against entering the NCAA transfer portal, saying he could never leave North Carolina. Players are not supposed to be recruited by other schools unless they enter their name into the portal. With NIL coming via third parties, tampering happens.
Maye would be highly sought-after had he entered the portal. In 2022, Maye threw for 4,115 yards and 35 touchdowns with just 7 interceptions, leading UNC to a 9-4 record and a Holiday Bowl berth to take on the Oregon Ducks on Dec. 28.
