Paul Chryst cashes in on raise earned after leading Wisconsin to 2020 Rose Bowl

Wisconsin coach Paul Chryst has gotten a raise.
Well, he earned the raise almost 2 years ago. But he just got it.
Chryst received an $800,000 pay bump for leading Wisconsin to the 2020 Rose Bowl. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the raise was delayed. Monday afternoon, Wisconsin announced Chryst’s new agreement, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Per #Badgers officials: Board of Regents recently approved amended compensation package for Paul Chryst. Deal was first explored after 2019 season but put on hold because of pandemic. Chryst goes from $4.35 million, sixth in B1G West, to $5.25 million…

The timing of the announcement isn’t great for UW. Wisconsin is 1-3 for the first time since 1990 and has fallen hard out of the AP Top 25. The Badgers are 0-2 in B1G play, and their 18.5 points per game on offense is the worst in the B1G.
To make matters worse, starting quarterback Graham Mertz and tight end Jack Ferguson are questionable for this week’s game against Illinois with chest injuries. So not only is the offense struggling, but it might be down two key pieces.
