Paul Chryst previews Wisconsin’s tough matchup with Northwestern: ‘We’re going to have to earn everything’

Like any coach, Wisconsin’s Paul Chryst likely has plenty of things to tweak and poke at when it comes to his squad.
But after missing two games due to a COVID outbreak, Chryst had to have been thrilled just to be back playing. To top things off, the Badgers rolled over Michigan and handed the Wolverines a historically bad loss inside The Big House.
Now that Wisconsin is back up and running, the Badgers go into Week 5 gearing up for their biggest test so far this season in Northwestern.

Chryst certainly has good reason to be happy with his running game. Against Michigan, the Badgers combined to run for 341 yards. Running back Jalen Berger was the star of the show as he ran 15 times for 87 yards and a touchdown.
Wisconsin most likely won’t be able to run with that ease against the Wildcats. Heading into this game, Northwestern is allowing opponents to rush for 91.8 yards per game. That’s second in the conference behind…the Badgers.
Besides a staunch run defense, the Wildcats have also been nearly perfect in the second half when it comes to points allowed. Northwestern has allowed just 10 points in the second halves of games this season. All 10 of those points came this past weekend against Purdue.
