Paul Finebaum has a new No. 1.
The CFB analyst known for his SEC ties placed Ohio State at the top of his rankings on Sunday morning’s weekly appearance on SportsCenter. He spoke about each of his picks in detail.
The Buckeyes just continue to roll while the rest of the country stumbles ever so slightly. Alabama danced with Texas A&M for way too long Saturday night and Georgia has looked human in the past few weeks.
Ohio State and its strong offense is ready to challenge the SEC powerhouses for the crown.
4. Clemson Tigers: “I’m starting with Clemson at No. 4, and they have played very well. You can make a case for putting them higher, but who are you going to move out? The quarterback play has been fantastic, and it’s been interesting with Brent Venables heading to Oklahoma. I wonder if he regrets that move? The Clemson defense is looking very, very strong as well.”
3. Alabama Crimson Tide: “Alabama taking a fall (to No. 3), and it took an ending that they will be talking about in College Station for a long time. Johnny Manziel, the most legendary Aggie ever, called the end of the game the worst play selection ever. I’m sure Jimbo Fisher won’t be sending him Christmas cards.”
2. Georgia Bulldogs: “At No. 2, Georgia. They looked good, but they were playing Auburn, which is maybe the most listless team in America with Bryan Harsin maybe coaching his last game or two as the Auburn coach.”
1. Ohio State Buckeyes: “At No. 1, yes, welcome, Buckeyes. CJ Stroud and company have just continued to dominate everyone. They continue to dominate.”
Time will tell how these rankings will change as the schedule becomes more and more intense.
