Paul Finebaum would favor Ohio State over Clemson: ‘I don’t think it would be that close’

Paul Finebaum is putting all his chips on the table and is betting it all on Ohio State. After another three-touchdown victory on Saturday, this time against No. 25 Michigan State, the SEC Network host isn’t budging from his stance that the Buckeyes are the best team in the country.
Actually, he’s taking it a step further.
Ohio State posted an impressive 34-10 victory over Michigan State, running all over one of the top rush defenses in the country and cruising into an off weekend. Finebaum was so impressed by the Buckeyes on Saturday evening, he went as far as to say Ryan Day’s crew would be the favorite in a game against Clemson.
Finebaum believes the Buckeyes would beat the Tigers. Easily. He said as much in his Sunday morning appearance on SportsCenter.
“Think about this — Justin Fields couldn’t get in a game last year at the University of Georgia,” Finebaum said. “This team to me easily looks like the best team in the country. I say that before we’ve seen Alabama play a legitimate game and that’ll come next week vs. Texas A&M, but right now, Ohio State is the best team in the country.
“Anyone who says Clemson is a better team needs to get their eyes checked. This team would beat Clemson and I don’t think it would be that close.”
Clemson hasn’t looked great this season, struggling with some of the weaker teams on its schedule. It got a real scare from North Carolina last weekend. The Tar Heels failed on a 2-point conversion try that would’ve given them a late lead in the game.
Ohio State, on the other hand, has wrapped up the outcome by halftime essentially. The Buckeyes have won every game by a minimum of 24 points this season and are the first team in the B1G to get to 6-0. They’ve looked unbeatable.
We won’t get an Ohio State-Clemson matchup until the postseason, but it could easily be a College Football Playoff matchup in a few months.
