Payne Durham scored his 7th TD of the season on a brilliant, deceptive play that added six more to Purdue’s lead over Northwestern on Saturday.
From the 5-yard line on 2nd and goal, Purdue lined up for an attempt at the end zone. After the snap, QB Aidan O’Connell appeared to pass it off to RB Dylan Downing but instead hit a pass to a wide-open Durham.
Durham angled himself into the end zone to put six on the board for the Boilermakers.

Durham has been a standout for the Boilermakers this season, amassing 481 yards heading into Saturday. Earlier this year, Durham tied with Jim Beirne for 2nd-most TDs as a tight end in Purdue history with a stellar one-hand grab in the end zone against Wisconsin.
Saturday’s TD is the 8th of the season, but the 20th of Durham’s career, which puts the TE in the 8th spot in school history. We’ll see how high he can run his total to finish the year.
