Penn State adds depth at RB with commitment from grad transfer out of Baylor

Penn State didn’t get a lot of wins during the 2020 season. But as the offseason gets underway, the Nittany Lions are staring to pick up some Ws.
On Monday, former Baylor running back John Lovett announced his decision to transfer out of Waco. He will now head to Happy Valley as a grad transfer. That means he will be eligible to play next fall.

Lovett comes from Cherokee High School in Burlington, New Jersey. He was rated as the 29th best running back in the Class of 2017, according to 247Sports. He was also the 13th best prospect out of New Jersey.
As a freshman, he started four games and finished the year with 98 carries for 445 yards and five touchdowns. He was the Bears’ leading rusher as a sophomore with 573 yards. As a junior, he finished with 655 rushing yards and five touchdowns.
In 2020, Lovett did not see the field as much due to injury. He played in just five games while going for 130 yards and a touchdown.
Lovett joins a Penn State squad that will surely be interested in making some improvements off of a very disappointing 2020.
