Penn State has already lost some depth on defense only a few months after the Nittany Lions added a veteran cornerback from North Carolina.
Cornerback Storm Duck, a second-team All-ACC selection, is re-entering the transfer portal after spending just a few months with the Nittany Lions, Happy Valley Insider reported. Duck has one year of eligibility remaining after 4 years with the Tar Heels.
Duck was a 4-year contributor with the Tar Heels, and during the 2022 season, Duck led the Tar Heals with 9 pass breakups and 3 interceptions. He made 46 total tackles, a tackle for loss and a forced fumble.
For his career, Duck at UNC had 103 tackles, 5 interceptions and 17 pass breakups. Duck was expected to bring a veteran presence to the secondary for next season.
For the Nittany Lions, Duck is the 3rd player to enter the transfer portal after the Blue-White spring game. Offensive lineman Jimmy Christ announced his transfer to Virginia and fellow cornerback Marquis Wilson will reportedly move on to Purdue.
