A key piece of Penn State’s defensive line is likely to miss the 2021 season because of an injury.
Head coach James Franklin said during Penn State’s media day on Saturday afternoon that defensive end Adisa Isaac is likely to miss all of the 2021 campaign because of an injury. It was a non-football injury, but still one that will keep him sidelined for quite a bit of time.
“You never know, but he’ll be out for a decent amount of time,” Franklin said.
Specifics on the injury were not provided.
During the 2020 season, Isaac appeared in all 9 games for the Nittany Lions. He was credited with 13 tackles, 2 quarterback hurries and 1.5 sacks during a 4-5 campaign.
As a freshman in 2019, Isaac appeared in 11 contests and collected 14 stops, 3 tackles for loss and forced a fumble. Penn State closed that year with an 11-2 record.
Isaac’s absence will be a huge blow to Penn State’s defensive line depth. Franklin did say that the edge rusher is in good spirits and doing everything possible to get back to the team as quickly as possible.
Penn State opens the 2021 season with a tough road game against Wisconsin.
