Penn State has been on its heels since taking a 10-0 lead against Ohio State. The Buckeyes have since responded with 14 straight points and originally were given a touchdown on what became a crucial call in the first half.

Quarterback Will Howard provided the moment and gashed the Nittany Lion defense with a major run down the sideline. He was originally awarded a touchdown though the ball popped free late in the play.

Upon review, it was clear that Howard fumbled the ball prior to crossing the goal line, but where exactly the ball crossed the goal line was a crucial call. It was eventually ruled that the ball cleared the pylon, resulting in a touchback and possession for Penn State.

While the Nittany Lions did not get points on the ensuing possession, keeping points off the board has been crucial in the first half. Howard already has 2 turnovers in this one, including a horrific pick-6 on his first pass of the game.

Ohio State’s offense has been much better since Howard’s turnover, but both sides are still in a tight game as we near halftime.
