Penn State is considering selling alcohol at home football games. That was the report, at least, and the University has since come out to confirm that the reporting on the matter has been straight and true.

Ben Jones, who reports on the Nittany Lions, is passing on a statement from the school:

“The expansion of the sale of alcohol in Beaver Stadium has been under consideration and we have been putting plans in place for this possibility,” the Penn State spokesperson wrote in a statement to StateCollege.com. “The University will need to secure Board of Trustees and other necessary approvals before proceeding.”

It was previously reported by Jon Sauber of the Centre Daily Times that PSU’s second game of the season — a home clash against Central Michigan — could serve as a test run for alcohol sales within Beaver Stadium.

There still seem to be more hurdles to cross, but it is well worth noting that the school has confirmed that it is looking into the matter, which is presumably good news for fans who undoubtedly can’t wait to shell out 10-plus dollars for a beer.
