Penn State went into rival territory and landed a new commitment for its 2026 recruiting class.
Pierce Petersohn is the newest Penn State pledge. The blue-chip ATH announced his plans to play for James Franklin’s program on Wednesday.
Out of Dodge Center (Minnesota) Triton High School, Petersohn is listed as measuring 6-5 and 200 pounds. On the 247Sports Composite, Petersohn is rated 4-stars, the No. 3 player in the state of Minnesota, No. 21 ATH prospect and No. 342 recruit overall in the Class of 2026.
Though the ATH label is used for multi-position prospects, it appears Petersohn’s future in State College is as a tight end. He was recruited by Penn State tight ends coach Ty Howie.
Petersohn told Hayes Fawcett of On3 that he chose the Nittany Lions over the home-state Minnesota Golden Gophers. Duke, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas State and Northwestern were among the other programs to show interest in Petersohn.
With Petersohn on board, the Nittany Lions now have 21 verbal commitments in their 2026 class, which ranks No. 8 nationally on the Composite. Petersohn’s junior-season highlights, in which he primarily plays quarterback, can be viewed in the video below:
