Penn State has gone west to add a prized prospect to its 2025 recruiting class.

Daryus Dixon is the newest Nittany Lion commitment. The blue-chip defensive back from California made the announcement Monday, taking to social media to share the big news.

A standout of California high school football powerhouse Mater Dei, Dixon is listed as measuring 6-feet, 180 pounds. On the 247Sport Composite, Dixon is rated 4-stars, the No. 10 cornerback, No. 11 California product and No. 90 prospect overall in the Class of 2025.

Dixon drew notable interest from coast to coast. Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, UCLA, USC and Washington are among the other programs that extended scholarship offers to Dixon.

Led by position coach Terry Smith, James Franklin’s staff sealed the deal on Dixon over the weekend, getting him to State College for a campus visit.

Penn State fans will find a lot to like about Dixon. He’s described as a “linebacker in a corner body” by Greg Biggins of 247Sports. Dixon is noted to be highly intelligent and highly physical as a defender.

With Dixon on board, Penn State now has 14 verbal commitments in its 2025 recruiting class, ranked No. 11 on the Composite.

Dixson is Penn State’s highest-rated prospect in the 2025 pledge class. He is coming off a standout junior season in which he defended 19 passes while making 56 tackles.
