The No. 1 player out of the state of Iowa is heading to Happy Valley.

Class of 2027 wide receiver Landon Blum has committed to Penn State, choosing the Nittany Lions over the likes of Kansas, Ole Miss, Iowa, Miami and Auburn, to name a few.

This is a strong get for new head coach Matt Campbell, who just added the Nittany Lions’ top recruit of the 2027 class to date. He is the 5th commitment of the cycle for Penn State.

Blum is an intriguing prospect with a slightly unusual background. He plays 8-man football at Woodbine High School (3 linemen, 4 skill position players) in Iowa, which is located about 35 miles northeast of Omaha, Nebraska. The 6-4, 200 lb prospect was originally offered in January of 2026.

According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, Blum is considered to be the No. 300 overall prospect in the Class of 2027, as well as the No. 16 TE and No. 1 player out of the state of Iowa. Blum is classified as a tight end on 247Sports, but his size and skillset better translate to a wide receiver and he was recruited as such by the Nittany Lions.

This past season was a good one for Blum, who recorded 60 receptions for 1,049 receiving yards and 24 touchdowns.
