Former Georgia DB AJ Harris is heading to the Big Ten to play for Penn State.
Harris played 1 season in Athens before hitting the portal on Dec. 15. Harris, listed at 6-1, 190 pounds on the UGA roster, played in 7 games and accounted for 8 total tackles. He recorded a team-high 4 tackles in Week 2 against Ball State and last played in the Florida game on Oct. 28.
Harris was a highly touted recruit in the 2023 class, rated a 4-star cornerback out of Phenix City (Ala.) Central. The 247Sports Composite ranked him as the No. 3 CB and No. 5 player from Alabama in his class and No. 41 nationally.
Harris had SEC offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas A&M. Penn State offered Harris as a recruit as well.
The Bulldogs’ season didn’t end the way fans wanted it to. After holding an undefeated record during the regular season, Georgia lost to Alabama in the SEC Championship game and was left out of the College Football Playoff. The Bulldogs closed out the 2023 campaign with a 63-3 win over Florida State in the Orange Bowl.
For Penn State, its season also ended in a New Year’s Six Bowl. The Nittany Lions faced Ole Miss in the Peach Bowl, but lost 38-25 to Ole Miss. Penn State finished the year at 10-3.
