Penn State losing LB to transfer

Wednesday was a busy news day in Happy Valley.

First Penn State defensive end Shareef Miller and offensive lineman Connor McGovern announced that they would be pursuing the NFL Draft, forgoing a return to State College. Head coach James Franklin also fired wide receivers coach David Corley after just one season.

Now, linebacker Dae’lun Darien has announced he plans to transfer from the program. He made the decision public through his Twitter account.

“Thank you to everyone at Penn State, coaches, players, and all other supporters. I enjoyed the experience and the fan base is unbelievable,” Darien wrote. “Unfortunately I will be transferring to a school closer to home due to my father’s illness and some other family issues. I will never forget about this university.”

Darien is a native of Baltimore, Maryland, so he is likely to pick a school in that area.

Darien appeared in 10 games for the Nittany Lions this season, making four tackles and recording one pass break-up. He was a former 3-star wide receiver out of high school but made the switch to linebacker once at Penn State.
