A pair of B1G East rivals have made the Top 2 for a heavily-recruited defensive back in the 2022 class.

Maryland native and 3-star safety Kevin Winston revealed that he’s deciding between the hometown Terrapins and Penn State for his commitment. He dwindled his list down from 19 offers to the two B1G East programs.

Winston made his announcement with a post on Twitter:

Winston, a 6-oot-2, 190-pound safety from DeMatha Catholic, is ranked as one of the Top 50 safeties in the class and is the No. 17 prospect out of Maryland. He received a plethora of Power 5 offers, including Michigan State, Boston College, Colorado, Louisville, NC State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Pitt, Syracuse, Tennessee and Virginia Tech.

Both Maryland and Penn State have been recruiting relatively well with the 2022 class. The Terrapins currently rank No. 6 in the B1G and No. 28 nationally while the Nittany Lions sit at No. 2 in the B1G and No. 5 in the country.
