Penn State offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich discussed quarterback Drew Allar’s performance from Week 1 to now.
During a zoom press conference on Thursday afternoon, Yurcich provided more background on Allar’s key strengths heading into Week 8.
Yurcich is pleased with Allar’s performance as the Nittany Lions quarterback and is optimistic in his abilities each week, especially from the Purdue game in Week 1 to gearing up to potentially have him play in Week 8’s game against Minnesota.
“The ability to stretch the field vertically, good vision, good feel in the pocket,” Yurcich said when asked what stands out. “He gets thrown in the Purdue game and he seemed very comfortable in that setting.”

Allar, a freshman, had his moment to shine as QB1 in last week’s game against Michigan. Starting quarterback Sean Clifford left the game due to an apparent injury.
