Rasheed Walker didn’t need any additional motivation entering this season. After Penn State’s 4-5 season last fall, he the offensive lineman was determined to help his team rise back to the top of the B1G.
This week, though, Walker did receive an honor that will push him to be even better. As the Nittany Lions prepare for a Sept. 4 showdown against Wisconsin at Camp Randall Stadium, Walker was named a team captain.
Speaking with reporters on Tuesday morning via Zoom, Walker explained what it meant to be named a team captain. He takes it as quite an honor.
“It says a lot, and it just makes me want to go harder for my teammates and my coaches,” Walker said per David Eckert of Blue White Illustrated. “I’m just very appreciative.”
Walker enters the 2021 season with a ton of experience on the offensive line. In three seasons in State College, the 6-foot-6 redshirt junior has appeared in 26 career games and made 22 starts. He’s one of the veteran leaders on that side of the ball.
Walker has the potential to be an All-B1G and All-American offensive lineman this fall. He and the rest of the Nittany Lions hope that translates to a lot more wins this fall.
