Penn State police make arrest in connection with threat to Beaver Stadium

The Penn State University Police Department has made an arrest in connection with a terroristic threat that targeted Beaver Stadium earlier this month.
According to Penn State University, police arrested 22-year-old Charles Hitechew for allegedly making a threat that targeted the school’s football stadium. The threat was made on Twitter on Wednesday, Aug. 8.
Hitechew has been charged with two counts of terrorist threats.
“Penn State takes every threat seriously,” said University Park Police Chief Keith Morris. “The safety of our students, faculty, staff and visitors is our first priority. An investigation was initiated as soon as we were made aware of the threat, and investigators worked diligently to identify a suspect and make an arrest.”
Police began investigating the situation after others on social media brought it to the attention of authorities. Hitechew was arrested on Aug. 23 and was released on $15,000 unsecured bail.
According to OnwardState.com, the tweet stated “I have decided I am going to commit the biggest mass shooting in history of the world, killing thousands of fans in beaver stadium during one of the games next season.”
Beaver Stadium has a capacity over 106,000.
Penn State has also announced that there will be an increased police presence for all home games this coming season.
