Penn State senior quarterback Trace McSorley entered today needing just 10 yards to break Christian Hackenberg’s all-time passing yards record of 8,427.

Needless to say, he accomplished that feat on the team’s first drive of the game against Michigan State this afternoon, completing a 13-yard attempt to Brandon Polk to make Nittany Lions history:

McSorley is without doubt one of the greatest quarterbacks — if not the best — to ever wear a Penn State uniform. Already the program’s record-holder for career passing touchdowns (69), total career yards (9,727), and total career touchdowns (93), McSorley will get at least eight more opportunities to pad his unbelievable stats before running out of eligibility at season’s end.

The Nittany Lions (4-1, 1-1 Big Ten) currently hold a 7-0 lead over Michigan State (3-2, 1-1) early in the second quarter.
