Penn State received support from an interesting source with the Nittany Lions facing Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl.
Lane Kiffin has been known to partake in some trolling on social media. The coach made headlines during the first round of the College Football Playoff for trolling the CFP committee about the non-competitive matchups. Now, the coach is back at it again during the Fiesta Bowl.
On Tuesday night, Kiffin put out multiple posts on social media cheering on Penn State in the matchup against Boise State. The coach started off by posting “LFG PSU,” before following that up with Penn State’s hashtag “#WeAre.”

It’s unknown why Lane Kiffin is suddenly supporting Penn State, but it likely circles back to the Ole Miss head coach trolling of the CFP committee. The coach made it known that he’s not a fan of Group of 5 teams being in the Playoff. Kiffin has also suggested several times that the SEC is the best conference, which is why he believes his team should be in the Playoff.
Kiffin’s Rebels did have a good regular season, finishing with a 9-3 record. The team seemed primed for a Playoff spot before a late-season loss to the Florida Gators doomed the team’s chances. The Rebels finished No. 14 in the final CFP rankings.
In the Fiesta Bowl, the Nittany Lions have a 17-7 lead at halftime. The Nittany Lion defense has done well to keep Boise State star Ashton Jeanty in check. The RB and Heisman finalist has 13 carries for just 39 yards at the break.
The winner of the Fiesta Bowl will advance to the Orange Bowl to take on the winner of the Notre Dame-Georgia game.
