The Penn State Nittany Lions are coming off a year in which they went 11-2 and beat Washington in the Fiesta Bowl.
Though they lost key players like RB Saquon Barkley and TE Mike Gisecki to the NFL, excitement is still high in State College.
In fact, when Penn State opened up 21,000 student season ticket packages this week, they sold out in less than 50 minutes. In a statement from the school, coach James Franklin said he was amazed by Penn State fans:
“Every year I am blown away by our student ticket sale,” head coach James Franklin said. “Selling more than 21,000 tickets in less than 50 minutes shows why our student section is unrivaled. They make Beaver Stadium the best environment and toughest place to play in the country. We are excited to get back on the field for our family reunions.”
Penn State opens the year on Saturday, Sept. 1, at home against Appalachian State. Based on these ticket numbers, Beaver Stadium will be rocking in Week 1.
As the Nittany Lions aim for a Big Ten title, they’ll have quite a home-field advantage with such an excited student section.
