A record number of people were in attendance at Beaver Stadium Saturday night to watch No. 2 Penn State and No. 19 Michigan.
During the third quarter of Saturday night’s game, it was announced that 110,823 fans were on hand for the clash of B1G East powers. That topped the previous record of 110,753 which was set back in 2002 when the Nittany Lions hosted Nebraska. Penn State won that game in convincing fashion, knocking off the Huskers 40-7.

Saturday’s game yielded similar results as Penn State clobbered Michigan 42-13.
In addition to the allure of a pair of top 25 games, College GameDay was also in State College on Saturday to get fans amped up for the prime time showdown. There were no figures of attendance for the pre-game show, but it also drew an incredibly large crowd.
This was the second time Beaver Stadium exceeded its seating capacity this season. 109,898 were in attendance for the Penn State-Pitt match-up in September.
