Penn State soccer may have entered the 2022 B1G Tournament as a 6-seed. However, the Nittany Lions are bringing a title back to Happy Valley after stunning No. 1 seeded Michigan State Sunday afternoon.

It didn’t take long for the Spartans to open the scoring, going up 1-0 in the 5th minute of the first half. While the Nittany Lions took a while to get rolling, Kaitlyn MacBean tied the game after cleaning up a rebound in the box.

In the second half, Ally Schlegel gave Penn State its first lead of the afternoon. In the 54th minute, Schlegel split a pair of defenders and beat the keeper with a clean strike.

Michigan State answered back to tie it at 2-all in the 75th minute and threaten to force overtime. Then, Schlegel stepped up once again.

In the 82nd minute, Schlegel broke through with a brilliant header past the keeper. The assist went to Mieke Schiemann with Schlegel beating the defense to a deflection with a clean header.

The Nittany Lions held on the rest of the way to pull off the 3-2 title-clinching win in regulation:
