Penn State will get tight end Pat Freiermuth back for 2020, but another key offensive weapon has decided to enter the NFL Draft.
K.J. Hamler, Penn State’s leading receiver in 2019, announced on New Year’s Eve that he will be leaving the Nittany Lions for the 2020 NFL Draft. Hamler was eligible as a redshirt sophomore and leaves a big void on the offense.
He made his announcement on Twitter:

This season, Hamler had 56 catches for 904 yards and eight touchdowns. He led the team in each of those categories. For the year, Hamler, Freiermuth, and Jahan Dotson were the only Nittany Lion players to eclipse 400 yards receiving.
There’s no denying Penn State will return a number of key pieces on both sides of the ball, including a loaded backfield and starting QB Sean Clifford. However, replacing Hamler will be no easy task. Best of luck to the talented receiver and elite speedster as he moves on to the NFL!
