Penn State defensive end Arnold Ebiketie is the top-ranked newcomer in all of the Big Ten for the 2021 campaign, according to ESPN.

The World Wide Leader released its preseason top 50 newcomers across all of college football on Wednesday, and Ebiketie came in at No. 15 overall.

The Temple transfer is expected to have a major impact for the Nittany Lions this season after recording 4 sacks and 8.5 tackles for loss for the Owls in 202.

Here’s analysis from ESPN’s Tom VanHaaren:

The Nittany Lions are losing quite a bit on defense — particularly along the edge, as Odafe Oweh and Shaka Toney were both selected in the NFL draft. Those two were Nos. 2 and 3 on the team in tackles for loss last season, and Toney led the team with five sacks. Defensive end Adisa Isaac will likely miss the season with an injury, meaning Ebiketie is going to be a big part of the defense. He had 42 total tackles, three forced fumbles and four sacks last season at Temple.

11 Big Ten players made the top 50, including Michigan running back Donovan Edwards and six players from Ohio State. Maryland, Wisconsin and Indiana also had a representative.

Penn State opens its 2021 season against Wisconsin on Sept. 4.
