Penn State offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead is a well-regarded candidate for the head coaching opening at Mississippi State, according to USA Today.

MSU is looking to replace Dan Mullen, who bolted for the opening at Florida.

Moorhead, 44, is one of the top offensive coaches in the game. He served as Fordham’s head coach from 2012-15, posting a 38-13 record, before taking over as Penn State’s offensive coordinator.

Mississippi State is still interviewing candidates and hopes to make a decision by the end of the week.

Alabama defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt, Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables and Alabama-Birmingham head coach Bill Clark are the known candidates for the Bulldogs opening.
