Penn State’s Mike Gesicki named semifinalist for John Mackey Award

Penn State tight end Mike Gesicki has been named as a semifinalist for the John Mackey Award, which is an award given to the most outstanding tight end in college football.

A senior from New Jersey, Gesicki has tallied 42 catches for 419 yards and five touchdowns in 10 games. He’s averaging 10 yards per catch this season. As a junior, Gesicki recorded 48 catches for 679 yards and five touchdowns.

Penn State is 8-2 this season, sitting second in the B1G East Division. After dropping two straight games to Ohio State and Michigan State, the Nittany Lions beat Rutgers 35-6 last Saturday. Penn State hosts Nebraska at 4 p.m. ET Saturday.
