Penn State quarterback Trace McSorley has been named one of the five finalist for the 2017 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.

Candidates must be college seniors or fourth-year juniors on schedule to graduate with their class. In addition to on-field accomplishments, candidates are judged on character, citizenship, scholastic achievement and leadership.

McSorley has been on a tear this season. The signal caller has amassed 2,666 passing yards through 10 games, and owns a 21-to-8 touchdown-to-interception ratio. He also ranks No. 9 nationally with 180 points accounted for.

The other four finalist are as followed: Ohio State’s J.T. Barrett, North Carolina State’s Ryan Finley, Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield, and Oklahoma State’s Mason Rudolph.

The Golden Arm Award will be presented at a ceremony on Friday, Dec. 8, at the Embassy Suites Baltimore Inner Harbor & The Grand, in Baltimore, Md.
