It takes a lot more than being a great athlete to get admission into Northwestern University. You have to be excellent in the classroom, as well.

On Wednesday, the NCAA released its annual Graduation Success Rate (GSR) data. According to the school, Northwestern posted a 98 percent overall GSR, the best in FBS. It was the second straight season the school had the best mark in the FBS.

This year, though, Northwestern’s GSR was at 100 percent. It became the first FBS program to record a perfect score, and one of only five programs in Division I football to register a perfect score this year.

That’s an awesome accomplishment for the program.

Northwestern hasn’t experienced much on-field success this season, sitting at 1-4 on the year. This week the Wildcats will host No. 4 Ohio State on Friday night.

Regardless of what happens on the field the rest of the season, this is an outstanding academic achievement.
