Jagged Mountain Brewery announced its plans to release a beer in memory of late Michigan State punter Mike Sadler.

The brewery, located in Denver, Colo., tweeted out the announcement with a photo of the beer and the label. It also provided a detailed explanation on its website:

The beer, which has been named “Hey Diddle Diddle” will debut on June 2 to honor the life of Sadler, who died in a tragic car accident last July.

“Hey Diddle Diddle” refers to a fake punt play run by Michigan State in the 2013 season that worked to perfection for Sadler and the Spartans:

The label of the beer also features the No. 3 – Sadler’s jersey number – and two roses to reflect the team’s Rose Bowl appearance at the end of the 2013 season. The beer is also described as an “All-American wheat ale.”

From Jagged Mountain Brewery’s website:

Since Mike liked to experiment with homebrewing, it seemed perfect to create a beer reflecting the personality of Mike for an event benefiting The Michael Sadler Foundation.  “Hey Diddle Diddle”, the name of a trick play/fake punt that Mike ran to huge accolades on national TV during Michigan State’s Rose Bowl season, is a wheat ale inspired by some of his favorite creations.  Brewed with oranges and apricots, and finished with a touch of Belgian yeast and roses, Hey Diddle Diddle recalls fond memories of a great person and Spartan.  Raise a pint and lay down your roses in memory of Michael.

At the release party, Jagged Moutain Brewery plans to donate $1 to the Mike Sadler Foundation for every pint of “Hey Diddle Diddle” that’s sold until the batch is gone.
