After Penn State’s 33-14 victory over Pitt on Saturday, Nittany Lions coach James Franklin issued one of the most savage statements of the college football season so far.
In the postgame press conference, Franklin compared beating the Panthers to beating Akron after saying last year’s win over Pitt was like Penn State’s Super Bowl.
The quote in question, which surely angered many Panther fans, is below:
James Franklin: "Last year for their win it was like the Super Bowl. For us this was just like beating Akron." https://t.co/m3VrN5R53b

On Monday, Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi responded to Franklin’s comments, calling out the Penn State coach for what he thought were classless remarks:

Penn State and Pitt are set to continue their rivalry each of the next two years, and those games will be even more important for both squads now, thanks to the strong remarks by each coach.
We can’t wait to see what happens next season.
