PJ Fleck discusses Tanner Morgan’s leadership after Minnesota’s 4th straight win

Don’t look now, but Minnesota’s surging.
After losing to Bowling Green in Week 4, the Golden Gophers have rattled off 4 straight wins, the latest coming Saturday afternoon against Northwestern 41-14. They’ve done this despite losing their top two rushers, Mo Ibrahim and Trey Potts, and finding a rhythm in the passing game.
That rhythm starts with quarterback Tanner Morgan, who’s settled in very well under center. In the 4 games since the Bowling Green loss, Morgan has completed 49 of 71 passes for 637 yards and 3 touchdowns. It’s been an impressive showing, but Minnesota coach PJ Fleck said Morgan’s making more of an impact away from the box score.

The Golden Gophers are 4-1 in B1G play and have sole possession of first place in the B1G West. They certainly have the momentum, which is why they’re being looked at as potential favorites to win the division.
Minnesota has a good opportunity for its 5th B1G win next week against Illinois.
