The Minnesota Golden Gophers and head coach PJ Fleck have a lot of questions to answer after their disappointing 14-6 loss to Illinois Saturday, the main one being is what happened to the Gopher offense and quarterback Tanner Morgan?

It was an ugly day for Morgan who passed for 180 yards but had 2 interceptions. His play has some wondering if Fleck should bench his quarterback but the coach was having none of that. Fleck made it clear his team is sticking with Morgan when asked if he would bench him.

Fleck said this via Twincities.com.

“Absolutely,” he said. “That’s without question.”

He did call Morgan’s play “inconsistent” but as far him not playing from this point forward, that’s not happening.

Fleck also didn’t put all the blame on Morgan either saying that “There’s a lot of things that go into it.” Like the fact that Morgan was sacked 6 times and the running game only had 89 yards on the ground.

The Gophers will see if they can bounce back against Iowa Saturday.
