One long-time Minnesota player will not return to the Gophers for 2021, head coach P.J. Fleck announced Saturday.

The player is a tight end, Bryce Witham. Witham originally joined Minnesota via the 2015 recruiting class and had the potential to return for one more season due to the extra season provided by the NCAA for 2020.

In the end, Fleck has said that Witham will not return after six seasons with the Gophers:

Witham was a 3-star member of the 2015 recruiting class out of Grand Rapids, Michigan. He redshirted in 2015 before appearing in eight games during the 2016 campaign. Witham also suffered a season-ending injury in 2017 after just four games.

For his career, Witham recorded 8 catches for 117 yards and a touchdown. In the Outback Bowl against Auburn, Witham recorded 2 catches for 12 yards and his lone career touchdown.
