Defensive end recruits out there who were on the fence about considering Ohio State as a potential landing spot may have gotten a nudge to Columbus this weekend. Current and former Buckeye edge rushers put on a show on Saturday and Sunday.

It started in Columbus on Saturday afternoon, as Ohio State defensive end Chase Young registered five tackles for loss, four sacks and forced two fumbles in a 38-7 win over Wisconsin. That performance netted Young the B1G Defensive Player 0f the Week Award, as well as the Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week honor.

Not a bad start to the weekend for the Buckeyes.

But that success continued into Sunday, with both Joey and Nick Bosa dominating on the NFL fields. Joey Bosa had a big day as the Los Angeles Chargers posted a 17-16 win over the Chicago Bears. The older Bosa finished the afternoon with seven tackles, four tackles for loss and two sacks in the win.

Nick Bosa had a career-high three sacks, a pass break-up and an interception as the San Francisco 49ers recorded a 51-13 win over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

Joey Bosa was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week. Nick Bosa was awarded the NFC Defensive Player of the Week.

It’s pretty rare for one program to produce that much success at the college and NFL level on the same weekend, but it just shows how good the defensive ends are that have either passed through Columbus or are still wearing the Ohio State uniform.
