Preston Taumua is a major offensive line prospect and the top overall recruit from Hawaii for the 2024 recruiting class. Already trending toward Nebraska, Taumua revealed his finall commitment late Sunday evening.

After generating some elite Power 5 offers that included programs such as Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Miami, Oklahoma, Utah and Washington, Taumua cut his final list to Arizona, Nebraska and Oregon. In the end, Matt Rhule’s Huskers won out to land Taumua’s commitment.

According to the 247 Sports Composite, Taumua is rated as a 4-star recruit and the 15th interior offensive lineman in the country for the class of 2024 in addition to being the top player from Hawaii. He’s listed at 6-foot-4 and 315 pounds out of Waipahu High School in Aiea, Hawaii.

Taumua immediately becomes the highest-ranked OL commit in Nebraska’s current class of 2024.

Nebraska’s 2024 recruiting class update

The addition of Taumua is a major one and gives Nebraska a 24th pledge for the cycle. That group is currently ranked 18th in the country per the 247 Sports Team Composite.

Six of Nebraska’s current commitments have received a 4-star composite rating with the Huskers sitting 5th on the list of B1G recruiting classes as things currently stand. Ohio State, Michigan, USC and Penn State are the only programs in the conference with a higher-rated class as of Taumua’s commitment.
