Primetime showdown: Kickoff time, broadcast information set for Notre Dame-Ohio State

The highly-anticipated season opener between Notre Dame and Ohio State on Sept. 3 will be played under the lights.
It’s been announced that Ohio State will host Notre Dame at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Sept. 3 inside The Horseshoe. ESPN’s College GameDay will also be in Columbus to preview the colossal showdown between two blueblood programs.
Per Eleven Warriors, it will be the first home night game the Buckeyes have played to open a season since 2010, when it hosted Marshall in a Week 1 contest in 2010.
The opener between Ohio State and Notre Dame will mark the seventh meeting between the two programs. The Buckeyes currently own a 4-2 lead in the all-time series. The last matchup was in the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 1, 2016. Ohio State posted a 44-28 victory.
Ohio State is coming off an 11-2 campaign in 2021, which included a Rose Bowl win over Utah. Notre Dame also closed out last fall with an 11-2 mark.
The Irish will be coached by Marcus Freeman, who was hired to replace Brian Kelly. It will be his first full season as the leader at Notre Dame. Ryan Day will be entering his fourth season as the head coach at Ohio State.
