Sports have a unique way of bringing us closer together. And if you don’t believe that, all you have to do is look to see the special moment shared between the fathers of two of the B1G’s  brightest stars, Luka Garza and Ayo Dosunmu.

During Friday night’s second session of the quarterfinal round of the B1G Tournament, Frank Garza and Quam Dosunmu shared a hug at Lucas Oil Stadium while watching their sons in action. Illinois defeated Rutgers in the first game and Iowa took down Wisconsin in the final game of the day.

Now, the two sides will be competing against each other, as the Hawkeyes and Fighting Illini play in the semifinal round of the B1G Tournament. The winner gets an opportunity to play for a conference tournament championship.

Both Luka Garza and Ayo Dosunmu are considered the best basketball players in the B1G this season. Both were named All-B1G selections and Garza edged out Dosunmu for the B1G Player of the Year honor this year.

And even though the two will be competing on Saturday afternoon, there’s a lot of mutual respect between the two players and the two families. It was really cool to see this special moment on Friday night.
