Purdue is adding some secondary help to the roster.
Christopher Jefferson, a defensive back from the University of Findlay, announced his commitment to Purdue with a post on Twitter. He joins the Boilermakers after spending three seasons playing at Findlay, a Division II program in Ohio.
Jefferson adds depth to a position group that has struggled over the past three seasons in West Lafayette.

Jefferson played in 26 career games at Findlay with his most productive season coming in 2019. That year, he was credited with 62 tackles, 9 interceptions, 6 pass break-ups, 2 fumble recoveries and a forced fumble in 11 games.
During the spring season in 2021, Jefferson finished with 32 stops, 4 pass break-ups, 2 interceptions and a fumble recovery.
Purdue’s pass defensive has ranked in the bottom three of the conference each of the last three seasons. In 2018, the Boilermakers ranked last in the B1G, and last year they finished 13th.
Because of the defensive issues, Purdue is now on its third defensive coordinator in as many seasons. After Purdue parted ways with Nick Holt, head coach Jeff Brohm brought in Bob Diaco to run the defense, a stint that lasted just the 2020 season.
Former Marshall defensive coordinator Brad Lambert is now calling the defense in West Lafayette.
